The Academy of United States Veterans Foundation (AUSV) is a non-profit organization promoting and recognizing veterans’ projects to educate the public on their value, while also encouraging a unified Veterans community.

It was on an early autumn morning in 2014, shortly after her honorable discharge from the United States Army that Assal Ravandi longed for a service oriented satisfaction equal to what she had experienced during her time as a soldier. "I need to do something," she thought to herself. "I need my sense of purpose back and to continue my service." In this enthusiastic state, Assal conceived the idea of The Veterans Awards (Vettys); an accountable platform to recognize the positive aspects of the veterans community. Finally, on Veterans Day 2015, the Vettys was produced for the first time ever and became the first community-wide event that celebrated various veterans projects under one roof.

The VETTYS was a successful affair with more than 650 community leaders, veterans, active duty service members and supporters in attendance. It was just the beginning of a journey to serve, celebrate and recognize. The veterans community needed to tell their stories of success and perseverance to the world and the Academy of United States Veterans (AUSV) was just the ticket.  The organization was legally formed in March 2016 and shortly after, an ocean of support followed.

Today, AUSV serves the community by promoting veteran service organizations and projects that advance the interests of our veterans. AUSV events are designed to advocate for, and further the progress of the veterans community through the power of media, unity, and collaboration.

Every veteran deserves to have a voice in our American community. Every single service member on active duty, in transition or separated from the military has a right to live a meaningful and sustainable life.

As veterans, we all believe in an old fashion conviction called public service. We wear our title of veteran as a badge of honor. As brothers and sisters in arms, we are called to confirm our values and our vows, to hold them against a hard reality and see how we are measuring up to the legacy of those who served before us and will serve long after us. As a community of Americans, we have the same responsibility of reaffirming principles with respect to our nation’s finest, our Service Members. Together we are stronger. We have a greater impact in making America aware of veterans' needs and in shining a light on organizations, projects and programs that truly have invoked change in our communities across America.

As members of the Academy of United States Veterans, we believe that our obligation to our community of service members is principally vital. We effectively utilize advocacy and outreach to ensure that decision-makers and supporters clearly hear our veterans' needs.

This is done by supporting veteran themed projects and causes.

The Academy of United States Veterans has been established to educate and advocate through recognition and organization on behalf of the community to ensure a promising future for programs and organizations that work tirelessly on their mission of service.

In 2015, we decided to bring the community of our fellow veterans together through an accountability platform for veteran related projects across our great nation. The plan worked! The Vettys (Veterans Awards) brings together our fellow veterans and their supporting organizations/programs to celebrate service, sacrifice and honor. Additionally, AUSV produces events throughout the year to celebrate the work of those who honor the community and veterans who represent the best of our American society.

We hope that you find our cause worthy of your support and decide to join us by giving, volunteering or simply attending one of our events.

Most respectfully,

Assal Ravandi
