Matthew Stiner is the Director of Government Affairs for Humana Military, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Fortune 100 health and wellness company Humana Inc. and leads their efforts in Washington, D.C.
Prior to joining Humana Military, he served as the Director of Military and Veterans Affairs at the White House. Matthew came to the White House after serving as a Senior Advisor to the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Robert A. McDonald.
His career began working for Tulsa (OK) Mayor Kathy Taylor where he created numerous programs for veterans, service members, and their families. Matthew coordinated the Tulsa Veterans Treatment Court, the third such program in the nation that became a national model to treat veterans involved in the criminal justice system who suffer from mental health and substance abuse issues.
Later, Matthew served as the first Director of Justice for Vets, a non-profit based in Alexandria, Virginia. He has served in the Marine Corps and received the Combat Action Ribbon for service in Iraq. Utilizing the G.I. Bill, Matthew graduated Magna Cum Laude from Oklahoma State University. While at OSU, he was Oklahoma’s only recipient of the prestigious Harry S. Truman Scholarship, which he used towards a Master of Public Administration.
