Mary Netherly Dailey was born and raised in Bremen, Ga. Upon completion of high school, she attended Georgia Southern University; where she obtained a degree in education. After college Mary began teaching. In 1982, she married then Capt. Dell L. Dailey. During his 36-year career, Mary was active in supporting her husband while he served in the special operations community, as a lieutenant general, and as an Ambassador at Large. As her husband quickly rose through the ranks, Mary became well known for her support of the service members and spouses she came across; not just the ones under her husband’s command. She regularly opened their home for service members during the holidays, attended events, and provided support for those in need. All thought she gave birth 5 children, many feel as though she is a second mom. Mary has continued to lead by example in retirement, as she supports her husband’s LLC, various military and veteran organizations, and her local community.
