Veterans don’t always know how to translate their military skills and experience into a standard application. That’s why Intelligent Waves' team and veteran hiring managers are dedicated to attracting veteran candidates, translating the military language, interviewing them, and helping them transition into the workforce. Our veterans can identify with veteran candidates and help to place them in the right job that highlights their strengths and reflects their career goals.

We understand that veteran candidates come with unique needs; therefore, we follow best practices to ensure a successful veteran hiring program. Our veteran hiring program starts with identifying our hiring needs and laying out a veteran hiring strategy that sets clear metrics and goals. Once we find a potential candidate we focus on placing them in the right job where they can be successful at building a civilian career. 

However, we know that our hiring practices are much than a process. We focus on transforming veteran new hires into dedicated employees. We make them feel welcome and engaged. Our hiring managers clearly outline the mission of the company, job goals, and expectations to ensure new hires are prepared. Our human resources, finance, and operations teams hold an orientation to introduce hires into the culture. We provide any necessary training needed for the position and offer a professional development program that encourages our veterans to continue to grow, learn and expand their skill sets.

Further, we are working towards our Virginia Values Veterans (V3) Program certification. The V3 Program helps employers develop and implement long-term strategies and nationally recognized best practices in recruiting, hiring, and retaining veterans.

As a service-disabled veteran-owned small business, our commitment to hiring veterans is personal. We continuously strive to build a better veteran hiring program.We are proud that 42% of our staff are U.S. military veterans, and we are working daily to increase that number. 61% of our veteran hires in 2017 have stayed with the company longer than 12 months.
